The coracoglenoid space is the region between the coracoid process medially and the anterior glenoid rim and labrum laterally, bounded superiorly by the superior glenohumeral ligament and inferiorly by the subscapularis. The long head of biceps exits the joint through the superior aspect of this space.
The coracoglenoid space is reduced in coracoid impingement and in patients with a prominent or anteriorly tilted coracoid. The rotator interval and biceps tendon traverse this space. Arthroscopic assessment includes evaluating the coracoid-glenoid relationship for subcoracoid stenosis. Coracoglenoid impingement test with posterior glenohumeral pressure combined with forward flexion reproduces anterior shoulder pain in positive cases.
Narrowing of the coracoglenoid space producing subscapularis and biceps compression in shoulder flexion, managed by coracoid decompression and subscapularis repair.
