  • Continuous anteriorly with Buck fascia and the abdominal wall deep fascia
Biomechanics

Function & Actions

Invests the superficial perineal muscles.

Clinical Relevance

Clinical Notes

This layer helps define the superficial perineal pouch and is encountered during perineal surgery and repair of obstetric tears. Its continuity with Buck fascia and the abdominal wall fascia explains how fluid from urethral injury can spread.

Pathology

Common Injuries & Conditions

Superficial Perineal Pouch Haematoma

Bleeding from straddle injury or delivery that collects around the superficial perineal muscles beneath this fascia, causing perineal and labial or scrotal swelling.
