Clinical Relevance

Clinical Notes

ODM function is tested by opposing the little finger to the thumb tip. In reconstructive surgery for ulnar palsy, ODM is addressed as part of hypothenar functional restoration.

Palpation

Not individually palpable — assessed by CMC5 rotation during little finger opposition.

Loss of ODM producing flattening of the palmar arch and contributing to clawing and grip weakness.
