The index finger slip of EDC is the most radial of the four slips, supplemented by the EIP which lies ulnar to it in the same compartment.

Clinical Relevance

Clinical Notes

EDC index slip lacerations in zone 5 require individual repair. In index MCP arthroplasty, the EDC index slip is centralised during soft tissue balancing.

Palpation

Palpable as a cord on the dorsal hand during resisted index MCP extension.
