ADM forms the lateral hypothenar eminence and is the most ulnar muscle in the palm. It is used as a pedicled flap (ADM transposition flap) for thenar eminence reconstruction in recurrent CTS.

ADM is used to cover the median nerve in recurrent carpal tunnel surgery with severe scarring. In hypothenar hammer syndrome, ADM may be tender from adjacent ulnar artery compression.
Palpable as the medial hypothenar bulk during resisted little finger abduction.
