Medial Talocalcaneal Ligament

ligamentum talocalcaneum mediale

The medial talocalcaneal ligament connects the medial talus to the sustentaculum tali, providing additional subtalar medial stability alongside the spring ligament and tibialis posterior tendon. It is injured in severe eversion injuries and progressive flatfoot deformity from spring ligament and tibialis posterior tendon failure.

Clinical Notes

The medial talocalcaneal ligament is assessed alongside the spring ligament and tibialis posterior tendon in adult-acquired flatfoot evaluation. Its disruption contributes to unchecked subtalar eversion and medial column collapse.
