Cuboid-Navicular Ligaments

ligamenta cuboideonavicularia

The cuboid-navicular ligaments (dorsal, plantar, and interosseous) connect the navicular to the cuboid across the transverse arch. They maintain the connection between the medial and lateral midfoot columns during the loading and push-off phases of gait. Their disruption in Lisfranc injuries and Chopart fracture-dislocations widens the transverse arch.

Clinical Relevance

Clinical Notes

Cuboid-navicular ligament injuries are assessed on weight-bearing radiographs looking for widening of the space between the navicular and cuboid. CT confirms the injury. Anatomical reduction and fixation of all Chopart joint injuries includes assessment and repair of the cuboid-navicular ligament complex.
