A bursa between the brachialis muscle and the distal anterior humeral cortex above the coronoid fossa, reducing friction as brachialis contracts during elbow flexion. It lies proximal to the bicipitoradial bursa at the radial tuberosity.
Deep infracondylar bursitis contributes to distal anterior arm pain with resisted elbow flexion. It is in the territory of the anterior interosseous nerve and brachial artery, making injection at this level technically demanding. It may be encountered and disturbed during anterior approaches to the elbow for fracture fixation or joint replacement.
Bursal inflammation between brachialis and the distal humeral cortex producing anterior elbow pain worsened by resisted flexion, managed with ultrasound-guided injection.
