Brachioradialis Proximal Bursa

bursa proximalis m. brachioradialis

A periosteal bursa at the proximal brachioradialis origin on the lateral supracondylar ridge, adjacent to the brachioradialis origin bursa already documented but more proximal, near where the radial nerve branches to supply brachioradialis.

Region: Upper Arm
Clinical Relevance

Clinical Notes

Brachioradialis proximal bursitis occurs in the territory of the radial nerve spiral groove exit and must be distinguished from radial nerve compression by examination. Resisted elbow flexion in semi-pronation (brachioradialis test) reproduces pain. Injection at the proximal lateral humerus combined with assessment of radial nerve conduction addresses this region.
