The anterior border of the radius (anterior oblique line) extends from the radial tuberosity to the anterior part of the radial styloid process, providing the lateral attachment for the flexor digitorum superficialis (partly) and marking the anterior boundary of the interosseous membrane attachment.
The anterior radial border is the surgical landmark in the volar Henry approach to the radius, where the brachioradialis and FPL/FDP are retracted to expose the anterior radius. Radial shaft fractures are plated on the anterior surface using this border as a guide for plate positioning. The anterior interosseous artery and nerve run medial to this border in the deep flexor compartment.
