PCL Posteromedial Bundle

fasciculus posteromedialis ligamenti cruciati posterioris

The posteromedial bundle of the PCL is the smaller bundle, taut in extension. Runs from the posteromedial femoral attachment to the posteromedial tibial insertion.

Region: Knee
Biomechanics

Function & Actions

Restrains posterior tibial translation near extension (0-30 degrees) and contributes to rotational stability in extension.

Clinical Relevance

Clinical Notes

PMB tears occur in combined ligament injuries. Double-bundle PCL reconstruction targeting both ALB and PMB provides more comprehensive stability.

Pathology

Common Injuries & Conditions

PMB PCL in Combined Knee Ligament Injury

Posteromedial bundle disruption in multi-ligament knee injury requiring double-bundle reconstruction for full stability restoration.
