Region: Upper Arm
Clinical Relevance

Clinical Notes

Triceps lateral head bursitis is a cause of posterior lateral arm pain with elbow extension, a component of the triceps pain complex. It is in the territory of the radial nerve at the spiral groove and must be distinguished from radial nerve pathology by clinical examination. Ultrasound identifies the bursa between the lateral head and the humeral cortex.
