A small bursa between the psoas minor tendon and the iliopectineal eminence of the pelvis as the tendon crosses the pelvic brim, distinct from the larger iliopsoas bursa. Psoas minor is absent in approximately 40% of individuals, making this bursa an inconstant structure.
Psoas minor bursa inflammation contributes to anterior pelvic pain in the minority of individuals who possess the psoas minor muscle. It may be confused with the iliopsoas bursa or inguinal lymphadenopathy. Psoas minor is typically identified on MRI as a small tendinous structure medial to the iliopsoas. When symptomatic, ultrasound-guided injection at the pelvic brim level is diagnostic.
Bursal inflammation at the psoas minor pelvic brim attachment producing anterior pelvic pain, present only in individuals with a psoas minor muscle, identified by ultrasound and treated with guided injection.
