Brachioradialis Bursa

bursa musculi brachioradialis

A small, inconstant bursa between the brachioradialis muscle and the radial head or lateral epicondylar ridge, forming where the muscle belly moves against the bone during elbow flexion and pronation-supination. It is more consistently found in individuals with high forearm use.

Region: Forearm
Clinical Relevance

Clinical Notes

Brachioradialis bursitis is an uncommon but recognised cause of lateral elbow and proximal forearm pain, particularly in manual workers and racquet sport athletes. The radial nerve and its superficial branch pass adjacent to this region, and bursal enlargement may contribute to radial nerve entrapment. Ultrasound-guided aspiration is both diagnostic and therapeutic.

Pathology

Common Injuries & Conditions

Brachioradialis Bursitis
